We're celebrating love all day err'day here at Confetti.ie, but there's something lovely about having a day for us all to put a special emphasis on all things love and romance. A romantic photo from your wedding will likely be one way you'll do just that over the years, so we're focusing on those today!

We asked four Irish wedding photographers to pick out the most romantic photo they've taken while shooting a wedding, and tell us the story behind it. While capturing the details of the day and getting photos with all your loved ones is important, some of the photos you'll cherish most from your wedding album are actually in the small moments just between the two of you, and that's definitely a running theme with this lot! Enjoy!

1. How long have you been a wedding photographer?
I worked in the TV and Film industry as an Art Director for 16 years before I became a full time wedding photographer. So my cinematic style is engrained in me from a young age. I saw an opportunity to specialise in photography when I had my children.

2. Why is this your favourite romantic photo you’ve taken at a wedding?
This is my favourite wedding photo of the last year, because I felt it represented a great deal about the couple and how they were feeling at the time. They had finished all the formalities of the wedding day and were getting ready for their first dance. They relished this short time alone before the party kicked off and had the most natural intimate moment. I just love how they are looking at each other. The rain didn’t deter them; I managed to convince them to come out in it.

3. How can couples be sure their wedding photos capture their romance?
I try to convey to couples that they need to let go and trust me on their wedding day. From our first consultation I hope to achieve that and along with a pre wedding shoot, dispel any fears for them in front of the camera. I usually include a location recce in my packages and plan where I’ll take them for their shoot after the ceremony. This I like to do after the bridal shots so the couple is on their own with me and we can have a relaxed stroll. Their natural response is usually to hold onto one another and chat and kiss. The magic moment come naturally to them and I just have to shoot them. I like to think I do this well. The romance speaks for itself.

Dylan McBurney Photography

romantic photo wedding photography best photographer

1. How long have you been a wedding photographer?
I started my business in 2007 so it’s ten years now.

2. Why is this your favourite romantic photo you’ve taken at a wedding?
Because it’s not posed, it’s real and it’s just a lovely moment that the couple will remember forever.

3. How can couples be sure their wedding photos capture their romance?
You can’t pose a real feeling. Hire a photographer who can capture the reality of what’s happening; focus less on posing and more on documenting the real moments of the wedding day. A photograph of a real moment will take you right back to how you were feeling.

Finn Mooney Photography

1. How long have you been a wedding photographer?
I have been a professional wedding photographer for 8 years.

2. Why is this your favourite romantic photo you’ve taken at a wedding?
This is one of my favourite images taken at a wedding as it was very spontaneous, we were walking down towards the lake and the sunset was not as strong and then is just appeared very colourful and very quickly. It made a beautiful romantic scene and a romantic photo. Tracy & Josh were an amazing couple who had so much fun on their day but were also quite romantic. It was clear they were mad about each other but also were having fun and being relaxed and what a way to be as a couple and the sunset metaphorically represented the perfect ending to a perfect day.

3. How can couples be sure their wedding photos capture their romance?
The most important factor in a wedding day is to enjoy every moment and to not wish it away, its one of the most amazing days in your life. If you relax and absorb every moment and make little moments throughout the day for each other and remind each other of all the hard work and preparation that it took to make the day a success and the romantic aspect of the day will happen naturally.

Photography by The Fennells

1. How long have you been a wedding photographer?
We are both photographers and have been photographing weddings together for over six years, but I’ve been taking photos since I can remember. My first camera was a disposable camera and I just kept buying them until I then got a proper camera, but I always loved going to get them printed and seeing what I had created. Fiona started when her passion for photography when she was a teenager and went on holiday. Nobody had a camera so she got one and brought it with her and that was it, her love for it grew.

2. Why is this your favourite romantic photo you’ve taken at a wedding?
It's one of our favourites because couples can sometimes fear the rain on their wedding day, but myself and Fiona love to get creative. We were able to make use of the rain to give this beautiful moment. It was just before the first dance, it had rained all day so we came up with a creative way to use the rain to make a great photo. The couple had a blast and just as we were finished he smiled and gave her a kiss. I love that because it's real. We call this photo 'a moment in the rain'.

3. How can couples be sure their wedding photos capture their romance?
The key is finding a professional photographer they can relate to and click with (pardon the pun). Making sure their photos are the style and feel you like from images.  You need to feel relaxed with your photographer so go meet them. Shopping online is handy, but you have to meet and chat. After that, having two photographers is really key to capturing moments rather than poses. For myself and Fiona we shoot weddings full time together so we have developed a real style of capturing personality as well as nice portraits, and the fact we love it means we give 110% every time. Always remember you are not just hiring someone to take photos, but somebody with people skills, good under pressure, a professional with experience, and a photographer team that won’t be demanding... but instead enjoyable to be around.
