Have you seen? The Millhouse is Confetti.ie's Venue of the Month for the month of September. The Georgian Manor House is on the banks of the Boyne in Slane, Co Meath, just 40 minutes drive outside Dublin.

We got in touch with Amanda Nulty, their wedding office manager, to get her expert advice on planning a wedding, choosing a venue, and upcoming trends for 2017 when it comes to weddings!

How should couples approach their wedding venue search?

It’s best to approach your wedding venue search with a plan, as this is one of the most important days of your lives you want to be sure you pick the right venue for you both. Sit down and discuss the type of venue you both have imagined getting married in (i.e.  is it a large Hotel style, Country Manor private venue, Castle Wedding etc..,) when you find a match this is where the search can begin. Then search the type of venue you both love, contact the venues, get more details on what they offer and if this matches your type of dream wedding, make an appointment to view. Always good to view a few venues before making your decision (but once you see it you will know, trust me)

When should they begin looking for a wedding venue?

It’s good to start your research straight away, allowing at least 18 months. This will give you any idea of what the costs are out there, and give you both plenty of time to plan your budget around your perfect day. This is particularly important if you are date specific, you don’t want to find your perfect venue but it does not match your dream date.

What questions should couples be asking when viewing a wedding venue?

Prior to viewing it is always good to already have the brochure with the packages and minimum number requirements that they have, a lot of venues might also cover most details in their brochure. The Millhouse like to send the couples enquiring a list of most frequently asked questions in advance which really help the couples. So, then you can note down anything that may not have been answered and that are important to you when celebrating your special day. Always make sure to get as much information as you can on the running order of the Wedding so your happy that this is how you wish to have your Wedding day run.

What are the benefits of getting married at The Millhouse?

The Millhouse, is an elegant Georgian heritage manor in the heart of Ireland’s Ancient East. Here Georgian architecture and historic textile buildings stand beside the meandering River Boyne and a mature Orchard. A perfect setting for your big day. The Millhouse hosts only one wedding a day and is exclusively booked for complete privacy on your special day. Our wedding team will ensure that you receive the utmost attention on all aspects of your day so that it will run smoothly.

Is there a formula for planning the perfect wedding once you’ve booked your venue?

Everyone's idea of perfect is different, the important thing is not to put too much pressure on yourself. Speak to your venue to give you guidance, and trust in them as we really do know what we are doing and our main goal is to make sure that you and your guests have the most perfect day to remember.

Are there any wedding trends you’re seeing emerging in terms of how couples are using your venue?

What we love about the Millhouse is that everyone is different and all love adding their own unique style to their wedding day. No two weddings are ever the same here, from Disney themes, to DeLorean cars and even one groom arriving by bike while the other groom arrived by canoe.
