Pinterest is every bride's best pal, providing reams and reams of beautiful inspiration and a place to keep all your ideas. With all that comes plenty of data to mine to determine trends for the upcoming year, which is exactly what they've done. Pinterest released its Top 100 for 2017 board, and in it, we've picked out a few trends you're probably going to see more of in weddings next year.

Cultural wedding traditions

From tossing the bouquet to single pals to wearing something old, new, borrowed and blue, we all know the most common wedding traditions, but this year we're going to see our horizons broaden a little more. There are plenty of wedding traditions around the world that Irish brides know nothing about, but there are some rituals you may want to include. From the best man shaving the groom's face the morning of the wedding as in Greece, to a rowdy bellydancing session before Lebanese weddings, to certain Indian brides first marrying a tree to couples from certain African-American communities jumping over a broom together, you might find an international tradition that suits you as a couple. We remain skeptical as to how many Irish weddings will adopt Niger's tradition of having a dancing camel outside the wedding, though.

Alternative hen parties

We've written before about some of our favourite alternative and willy-straw free hen party ideas and according to Pinterest, that's the direction more and more brides are headed. We're going less and less for L plates and shot glass necklaces and more for cool experiences and good-fun gals nights so think a little outside the box if you've been tasked with planning a hen this year!

Chrome powder nails

The new coffin nail, say Pinterest. The chrome powder turns your nails essentially into mirrors, meaning super shiny and often shiny metallic nails. While this one will wholly depend on whether you're up for something a little less traditional when it comes to your nails, there are ways to incorporate it a little more subtly if you don't want your nails detracting from the rest of your look!

Origami gift boxes

You might need to put your DIY skills to the test for this one, but origami gift boxes are growing in popularity and we think they'd make the perfect favour boxes. Choose pretty origami paper and they could double up as part of your table decor - win-win!

Octopus, craft beer and naan pizza

Pinterest is a foodie haven, so there are plenty of new food trends this year. Venture away from the traditional beef or salmon options, and craft a menu that features anything from octopus to naan pizza. Craft beer is also on the up, so it's the perfect time to get tasting and explore different options you could have at your wedding! You don't have to tell us twice!
