What: Love is in the Air: An Evening of Wedding Music
When:
Tuesday, 3rd of September, 8pm
Where:
National Concert Hall, Dublin 2

Join broadcaster and designer Brendan Courtney, RTÉ Lyric FM's Liz Nolan, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, conducted by Gavin Maloney, and two fabulous singers, Connor McKeon and Eden Shannon – one a master of swing, one a soprano – for a gorgeous, eclectic mix of music perfect for weddings and commitment ceremonies.

"We all spend a lot of time choosing the right outfit for that special occasion, because it's important to us and fashion is empowering. Adding great music to your special day is like adding that final all-important lippy! It's the final splash of colour which gels everything together." – Brendan Courtney

It’s all here – classical, opera, religious, music from films, and crooner classics! From the Arrival of the Queen of Sheba and Ave Maria to Cinema Paradiso, Gabriel’s Oboe, I’ve Got You Under My Skin and the Married Life theme from the Disney Pixar film Up!

The folks at RTÉ Lyric FM are inundated with requests from people who are planning weddings and commitment ceremonies asking them for music suggestions. Inspired by this, they put their heads together with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and came up with an evening of suitable music. Pieces ranging from what might be the more traditional classic and religious to Irish, music from films and operas, and crooner classics. On the night, the presenters Liz Nolan of Lyric FM and broadcaster and designer Brendan Courtney will read out proposal stories that people are sending into Lyric FM. Brendan will also be talking all things wedding glamour!

"After 15 years’ experience singing at weddings (that's a lot of I dos), what always struck me was the importance of it being a personal ceremony with music the couple really love. There's so much great music out there, and at Love is in the Air we want to share a wide range of gorgeous work. We also want to show how you can choose a wedding soundtrack that perfectly matches your own romance." – Liz Nolan

So whether you’re looking for inspiration for your big day, you want to relive happy memories, or you just want to sit back and let a couple of hours of great music with a full live orchestra inspire you, come along on the 3rd of September to the National Concert Hall. And if people want to share the story of their romantic/funny/outrageous marriage proposal? Brendan and Liz will read out a selection of the best on the night!
