love stamps an post irelandIf you were planning on buying An Post 'love stamps' for your wedding invitations, you may want to hang on until next week as they have got a special offer coming up for those hoping to send Valentine's Day cards in time for the love-filled day in February.

Between February 4th and 15th, local post offices across the country will have books of 10 love stamps on offer for €8, a saving of €2 on the usual €10 pricetag. When you've got 170+ guests coming, you better believe those savings start to add up. And even if it's only the price of a couple of pints, you might need them after you stick all those love stamps on your wedding invitations!

If you're not familiar with the An Post love stamps, each year they release a new design of a stamp designed specifically for love-themed post. Not just for Valentine's Day, most people use love stamps for their wedding save the dates and invitations. They're usually designed around a love heart motif, that just adds a little something extra to your invitation's envelope.

The most recent love stamp is based on an illustration by Liz Rackard of a lino printed heart in red, the colour of romance. While the stamps are a nice touch, Dublin Postman Jason Bourke has a warning for those thinking of other extras they could add: "There’s always a great welcome for us on 14th February, it’s a great day for sending love, except for the scented cards…some people go a bit overboard with the perfume!”

The handy booklets of ten stamps are available from www.irishstamps.ie or by calling 01 705 7400. If you're passing your local post office, you can also just drop in and they will usually have a few books of the love stamps on hand for brides and grooms to be!
