The feeling when you finally find the wedding dress of your dreams is pretty priceless, but that doesn't make the actual gúna free, even if that would be a pretty nice surprise. Our yearly wedding survey results are in, and we've calculated the average spend on a wedding dress for Irish brides. The magic number? €1,697!

So what do we think? It's definitely not nothing, but if you're an avid Say Yes To The Dress viewer, it probably seems pretty affordable by comparison. No $10,000 budget for the average Irish bride. In fact, this year's spend is actually almost 24% cheaper than our survey showed last year, when the average cost of a wedding dress was €2,238. Brides are obviously looking into more budget-friendly, highstreet or alternative options when it comes to their dress.

However, brides shouldn't forget to budget for accessories, as this year's newlyweds spent an average of €434 on accessories, like the veil, shoes, jewellery and lingerie for the big day. That's a steep enough figure that you wouldn't want it landed on you as a surprise!

In general, the groom's attire came with a much smaller price tag. The average groom in 2018 spends €697 on his get-up for the big day, which is more or less in line with last year's figure of €679. Budgets for bridesmaids and groomsmen were roughly equal, with the average couple spending €507 on the girl's gowns, while an average of €562 is being spent on the groomsmens' outfits, this year.

How does that line up with your budget?
