Mount Juliet Estate, Co Kilkenny

Mount Juliet Estate, located a 20 minute drive from Kilkenny City, is one of the oldest surviving walled estates in Europe making it an exclusive and romantic venue for a wedding. The Georgian elegance of Mount Juliet House offers a romantic and intimate celebration in the Lady Helen Dining Room and Tetratema Parlour. The Riverside Marquee offers breath-taking views over the River Nore and extensive paddocks of Ballylinch Stud. Located less than one hour from Dublin, Rathsallagh House is a large Country House converted from Queen Anne stables in 1798.The 17th century country house offers a romantic setting on hundreds of acres of rolling fields, with thousands of mature trees and a long winding avenue. Rathsallagh has been in the same ownership and in operation as a Country House for the last 30 years, and has a reputation for service, hospitality, and exquisite food.

For December weddings we give the option of serving Prosecco instead of white wine all through dinner and at no extra cost. It adds to the festive feel of the occasion.

What is the best way a couple have used your venue in winter?
Last December for guests on arrival for the pre-wedding event, we had hot chocolate and fresh cookies delivered to all rooms on arrival. On day two, the civil ceremony was on site with braziers lighting and heating the way to the ceremony room, and afterwards we had warm spiced apple cider and mulled wine served as the guests stood around our roaring log fires.

The Stephen’s Green Hibernian Club is a unique 18th century venue steeped in history, located in the heart of Dublin City Centre. The Club specialises in bespoke intimate weddings from 40-96 people and is the perfect venue to create memories to last a lifetime whilst capturing the romance of Old Dublin. Located at the rear of the building is one of the Club’s best kept secrets: Dating back to the 1870s, the Card Room boasts Victorian features, the most fabulous of which is the breath-taking domed ceiling. It’s no surprise that many couples opt to have their ceremony in the Club. The Guest Room, on the first floor, boasts views of St Stephen’s Green through its original sash windows.

Saturdays are very popular throughout December …. However we find the most popular dates to be between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. A lot of couples have close friends and family living abroad who come home to enjoy Christmas with their families, so it’s a great time to have everyone back in Dublin together to celebrate.
